Today I finally finished this piece for the January Imagine8 meeting. Our theme this quarter is "dreams," so I decided to write out this poem by Eugene Field. We were supposed to use a calligraphic hand that we had not previously used on an Imagine8 piece of art. Since this was a monoline alphabet, I was able to write it with a Pilot P-500 instead of a traditional dip pen, so it went a little faster than it would have otherwise. I originally wrote it larger, so had to reduce it to make it fit on the 8x11 size paper that was specified. To simulate the nets mentioned in the poem, I cut some strips of the plastic netting that comes around frozen turkeys. It was already gold color, so I partially masked it with strips of paper tape, and sprayed it with Krylon silver paint. I tacked it down in a few places with Aleene's Thick Designer glue and added the holographic stars. --Now just have to make seven more copies!
